Learning and Teaching

High Expectations

The School Curriculum at St Joseph's would certainly be regarded as ‘in-tune' with the modern integrated approach but strong emphasis is still placed upon the traditional values of the basic subject areas of Maths, English and Personal Development. We make no apologies for placing our emphasis on aspiring to excellence in the many facets of the above . W e view proficiency and skills in these areas as the key to every other subject area and the very basic necessities that children need, to open the doors to develop whatever personal talents and interests they discover within themselves.

Developing Confidence

We place a high priority on Oral Language and have implemented specific programs and experiences both formal and informal, to develop this basic communicative skill.

We explore every opportunity to help the children gain in personal confidence, self-esteem and the respect of their peers.

Meeting Every Learning Style

In our multi-age groupings we are able to create learning situations where children recognise talent and ability, irrespective of age or Year level.
